1. Overview

Pulse is a private app for couples. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how it is stored, and your rights over it. We do not sell your data to anyone.

2. Data We Collect

Account Information

These are collected when you sign in with Google or Apple (iOS) and are used to identify you within the app and to your partner.

Location

Location is collected only while the app is open on your screen ("While Using the App" permission): when you open it, and as you move while it stays open. It is never collected while the app is closed or in the background.

Your latest location is shared privately with your paired partner, so each of you can see how far apart you are and which city the other is in. It is never made public.

Sharing is your choice. Turning off Settings → Share Distance deletes your stored location and stops sharing it. Sharing is mutual: while it is off, your partner cannot see your distance and you cannot see theirs.

To show city names and your partner's weather, coordinates are sent to the services listed in Section 5 (your device's geocoding service, and Open-Meteo for weather). They receive the coordinates only, never your name, email, or account.

Home Screen and Lock Screen Widgets

If you add Pulse widgets, the app keeps a small copy of what they show on your device, in storage shared only with the widgets: for example your days together, today's question, upcoming countdowns, your partner's mood emoji, the distance between you and your two cities, and your partner's latest photo (Pulse+). Exact coordinates are never stored for widgets.

To stay up to date while the app is closed, widgets fetch this information from our servers using a credential kept in your device's secure Keychain; the distance is calculated on our servers from the two stored locations. Anything a widget shows can be seen by anyone who can see your screen. Widget data is removed when you sign out.
